What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

We take doctrine seriously - what we believe is not incidental to what we do, but forms what we do. That's why we have in-depth training on biblical and theological subjects, including Systematic Theology, Biblical Worldviews, Studying the Bible, and much more.

What follows is a summary of our core beliefs.

Scripture

The Old and New Testaments were breathed out by God, are inerrant, and are sufficient, certain, and authoritative for saving knowledge, faith, and obedience.

God

There is only one living and true God who created and rules the heavens and the earth. He is inexpressibly glorious in holiness and worthy of all honor, confidence, and love. He is one God in three persons - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Man and the Fall

God created man in His own image and sinless, but man voluntarily sinned against God, falling from his original holiness and righteousness. As a result, all men and women have a nature which is corrupt and wholly opposed to God and His law. Each person is condemned by both their wicked nature and their sinful actions.

Salvation

Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone, through the mediating work of the Son of God incarnate, Jesus Christ. Christ was born of a virgin, and being without sin fulfilled the law. On the cross, he made atonement for our sins, and rose again on the third day, later ascending into heaven, where he sits enthroned. He is a suitable, compassionate, and all-sufficient Savior. Those who are saved are kept by God, and will persevere to the end.

Repentance and Faith

Repentance and faith are sacred duties, and also inseparable graces, given to and worked in our souls by the regenerating Spirit of God. In repentance we are convicted of our sin and our guilt and turn away from it. In faith, we recognize our helplessness and need of an all-sufficient Savior, Jesus Christ, and therefore we place all of our trust in him for salvation.

The Church

A visible church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ. The church is ruled by Christ and should function as commanded in Scripture.

Baptism and the Lord's Supper

The two ordinances of the church are the baptism of a believer by immersion and the celebration of the Lord's Supper by baptized believers.

The Last Things

The Lord Jesus Christ will return in power and glory to judge the earth. All will be resurrected bodily, and the saved will live forever with God, while the lost will be punished forever in hell.

Human Sexuality

Marriage is intended by God to be a covenant relationship for one man and one woman. All forms of sexual activity outside of that relationship are expressly forbidden in Scripture.
